So why call the website Blue & Green? Blue is for freedom and blue-sky dreams. Green is a reminder that it is the earth and nature that sustains us all. Here are three of my favourite things ...

Nature

Like most introverts I just love being out in nature. This quote from Henry Thoreau's book Walking always makes me smile: "We should go forth on the shortest walk, perchance, in the spirit of undying adventure, never to return; prepared to send back our embalmed hearts only, as relics to our desolate kingdoms".

2

Travelling

Have passport, will travel as they say. Rebecca Solnit captures this need to explore beyond the next horizon perfectly in A Field Guide to Getting Lost. "Blue is the colour of longing for the distances you never arrive in, for the blue world." Indeed.

3

Photography

When I was a student I saved for a year to buy my first SLR camera. I still own that Pentax, but rarely use it. Imagine travelling for three weeks with a precious handful of film! Today it is all digital of course. I tend to take a lot of landscape photographs, but also love street photography and street art, as well as candid portrait photography.
